Does this sound like you? Knowledgeable, capable, the one people come to for answers, the person who holds it all together…
By the time we get to midlife we know SO much! But inside it can feel like a very different story.
Maybe you always played it small, keeping to those ‘good girl’ rules, ingrained from an early age. Or perhaps midlife has bought a (heat) wave of challenges; menopause, divorce, empty nest that have left you floundering and a bit lost.
Clients in their 40s and 50s say to me things like..
‘Why do I feel so stuck?’
‘Why haven’t I got this figured out yet?’
‘Not this again! I thought I’d dealt with it.’
‘Why do they always ask me? They know I don’t say no!’
‘I’ve lost my spark, and I don’t know how to get it back…’
Well, you’re not alone and you’re certainly not broken. So, please don’t give up or hide yourself away. Laying low until retirement isn’t a great plan for a satisfying life! You have so much ability and talent and the world needs that right now.
It’s a Change not an Ending
Imagine if the caterpillar thought that eating everything in sight and wanting to hibernate for ever was a sign it was all over. They might never make that bold metamorphosis into the butterfly they were born to be.
I’ve always loved the word metamorphosis. It seems a shame that we only tend to use it when we talk about butterflies.
Firstly, how you feel now, it’s not going to be that way for ever. Remember you are in a transition and you do come out the other side. There is light at the end of the tunnel.
Like all changes, it isn’t always easy. Sleeplessness, a common menopause symptom, was a tough one for me. I spent about year, awake and exhausted in the middle of the night. If you’re the same then you will be no stranger to the self-doubt and anxiety of those long nights, dreading the exhausted, hazy day ahead of you.
Many women feel disconnected, unsure if they even recognise themselves anymore. Less tolerant, more upfront, wanting to cut through the BS.
And you know, that isn’t always a bad thing.
When you emerge from that tunnel you start to reclaim yourself and also those parts of yourself you hid, crushed and tucked away many, many years ago. Maybe you were told you were being ‘loud’, ‘bossy’ or just ‘too much’ and that was wrong. ‘It’s not how a nice girl behaves’.
Those behaviours were you trying out your leadership muscles, flexing your strength and personal power. You need those qualities. It’s time to reclaim them.
The Women I Work With
The women I coach are often doing well in work. They are driven, knowledgeable, wise. But silently are battling burnout, low self-worth, or feeling invisible. They tell me they want to:
· Stop the self-doubt and second-guessing themselves
· Be able to set boundaries without feeling guilty
· Find a sense of purpose in what they are doing
· Feel calm and confident in their own skin
· Create a life they don’t feel they need to escape from
They just don’t know how to get there. That’s where I come in.
What Is ‘The Positive Reframe’?
The Positive Reframe is a 6-session coaching journey I’ve designed specifically for women in midlife who are ready to stop surviving and start thriving.
It isn’t about fixing you, because you’re not broken. The focus is on rebuilding your inner resources. Those things that help you feel strong, grounded, and in charge of your life again.
Things like:
Self-compassion Dropping the harsh self-criticism and starting to like yourself.
Resilience So you bounce back faster and are better equipped to ride life’s waves.
Strengths Discover the things that make you unique, and learn to use them.
Boundaries Learning how to say no and stop trying to fix everything for everyone.
Hope Reignite your belief in a brighter future.
All of this is in your power to create for yourself. Together, we rewrite the story you’ve been telling yourself, the one that has kept you small.
You end the reframe with a clear idea of what is important to you so you have a roadmap to navigate by. Add to that renewed self-belief and your new found confidence and who knows where you will end up!
What Clients Say
‘I’m getting back to me, doing the things I want to do.’
‘It’s about realising who you are, and that that is ok!’
‘I changed my mindset, I started being positive about myself.’
‘People started to listen to me.’
‘I can see the patterns that were holding me back.’
‘I’m not worrying about what other people think.’
‘I feel calmer, kinder, and happier.’
This is the power of reframing. This is what happens when you stop keeping yourself small and start to live fully.
